Code of Ethics

The Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations has committed to the highest standards of ethical behaviour in our organizations and our profession. As part of an overall ethics initiative, we have a National Code of Ethics.

The role of the National Code of Ethics is to:

  • Increase awareness of key ethical issues;
  • Clarify gray areas;
  • Stimulate and legitimize dialogue around ethical issues;
  • Guide decision-making;
  • Build trust internally and externally;
  • Further the positive public identity of the CCHRA, the Member Associations that make up the CCHRA, and of the HR profession;
  • Inspire members to higher principles of conduct;
  • Provide guidelines on enforcement of the Code;
  • Protect the public.
In order to aid your understanding of the CCHRA Code of Ethics, the following outlines core principles and guidelines for implementation.

The Code applies to CHRP members and those working towards obtaining their designation. We recommend that CCHRA Member Associations adopt this Code for all their members, and that CHRPs be asked to re-sign the Code every three years as part of recertification.
